I have learnt things from Bhathiya Jayakody,the legendary figure bns.

I have seen him in school uniform with the golden Ananda Crest Badge,
then I have seen him in a scout uniform,I have seen him playing the piano
in the western music room,and many more times as an old anandian.

All this time I just had one word to describe him,
“inspirational”.

Once when I was attending the Leadership Training Camp in Year 2001,to become a Prefect of Ananda College,he was there for a group discussion as an old prefect.I was lucky enough to be a member of his group and he had so many things to say to us.
I just felt like sharing some of the things he has told us.

you were the shiny moonlight
that crawled through the darkness,
at a time,
that I didn't wish for your heart....
 
please don't diminish from my heart's sky,
to a distance,
where I won't be able to reach.
 
even the naughty wind used to
accompany your fragrance.
 
don't stop this life's journey,
somewhere inbetween...
yet,smile for me.
 
please don't hide your smiles from me.
please don't set my heart on fire.
 
since the day I saw you,
I just can't help feeling,
that "you belong with me".

like a star to the pitch black night sky,
like a tree to the endless desert,
why did you decide to stay with me,
in this long and tiresome life of mine?

[what I felt about you,when I was 18]

wind that captures the scent of early morning blossams,
is you.
the lyrics of the harmonious song that birds sing,
is your smile.

blue moon, that is blessed with dew drops
will rise up in the night sky and diminish the darkness.

the lotus that blossoms in the lake of blue water,
will remind me of your cheeks.

early morning sunshine that comes across the window
refreshes the heart,
your smile is the oasis that fuels courage to me to go further.

= seperation =

it’s a huge torch of fire,
that erupted breaking the shackles.
the pain came suddenly and
how am I suppose to endure the pain?

I was there like the shadow always.
how can I hide the tears in my eyes and pretend?

love that grew slowly towards my beloved,
wished to cherish it till the end of “sansaar”.

a star fell down,denoting that we’ll be seperated.

may no harm come to you from beasts in the jungle.
may flowers bring you fragrance and wildfruits keep you out of hunger.
may the people who try to harm you,be sent to hell.
may you live happily in my heart’s border.

= silence =

I saw you in the town centre,
nearby the pond,
and somehow managed to look at you.
Although we were dumbfound,
there were thousands of words stuck inside us.

since the tress has got 1000 eyes,
since the wind has 1000 sharp ears,
since you will never ever be mine,
I thought that the silence was better,
since a dialogue would have deepened the pain.

whats the use of the ocean,
where I can’t drink a handful of water?

whats the use of a boat,
where I cant ride in the water?

whats the use of eyes,
where I can’t see what I desire,

whats the use of a rose,
where I can’t pull me near and smell the fragrance?
